Was this achieved? I am not sure honestly that is for Reshade users and veterans of the Silent Hill series to decide. With this preset the purpose was to make Silent Hill 3’s visuals match its horrifying, maniacal, heart racing sound. Audio is important in any genre to set an atmosphere but in the horror genre it is paramount. The Silent Hill series at times can be really abstract sounding compared to most traditional video-game soundtracks, even in the horror genre where one might think such experimentation would be wider excepted, yet it works so well on a psychological level. I always thought audibly Silent Hill had the edge over Resident Evil when it came to the horror genre, the eerie screeching repetitive sounds that occur in some areas make one hesitant when moving around. Enemies are harder to spot without a light source, some really can catch one by surprise if not careful, especially on harder difficulties. This preset “absonant incubus” for Silent Hill 3 gives the game more weight and volume, for added tension in game-play, at least that was the intention. One more thing, this was created with the PC version of Silent Hill 3, not the PS2 version, I am not banning one from testing this preset with that version, in terms of technicality, without trying it myself I am clueless to the final result and its symmetry to the PC version. A ritual I’ll keep with older games, but I digress. I even left the dgvoodoo watermark on images as an indicator that Reshade will not work without an outside program compatible with older versions of Direct X. :::Note::: This game runs on DX8, Reshade needs a proxy compatible with DX8 for it to recognize, I suggest, dgVoodoo but use whatever one likes.
